Special edition of Dance Flavours during Nationaal Theaterweekend 28/01

Dance Flavours on tour! We’re going to Nijmegen. During the Nationaal Theaterweekend in Lindenberg Cultuurhuis on Saturday 28 January, we present Dance Flavours Performance Night, a stage for work of new and upcoming makers, in different stages of the dance process, from work in progress to reprise. You get the opportunity to get a taste of the work of different contemporary artists.

LIFE BELOW WATER – Hygin Delimat en Noemi Wagner

LIFE BELOW WATER is a physical contemporary dance with live electronic music. The artistic theme of LIFE BELOW WATER is people adapting to a landscape of flood: as a personal memory, as a potential scenario of the future, as a cultural archetype. The element of water is used as a medium of transformation for movement, sound and performative states. The center of mass of the choreography are changes in behavior, coordination, and communication styles that may happen underwater. Water is present in the process of live creation of sound.
Water is one of the major players in today’s environmental discussion as the habitable land shrinks. At the same time, the diverse marine life is rapidly disappearing. LIFE BELOW WATER brings those images to stage. In such, it offers space to reflect on the behavior of the human species and their complex relationships with the planet.

What – water – Doron Galia Kind
‘What – Water’ takes place in the gap between the language and the body, between the movement and the voice. Daily action sets the voice in motion, the voice takes over the body and the body gushing into the stage.

Memories of the Future
In this film we play with time, while turning and lingering, until the present is the only thing that remains. That is what you can hold onto: here, now. The images and movements tell the story of one human and of all humans at the same time. A recurring cycle of surrender, freedom, perseverance and strength, where experiences from the past and memories of the future blend together.
